Union 76, a well-known American gas station brand, traces its history back to the Union Oil Company of California, founded in 1890. The distinctive orange ball signage of Union 76 gas stations became iconic and widely recognized. In the 1930s, the company introduced the "76" brand, inspired by the 1776 United States Declaration of Independence. Union 76 played a role in motorsports, sponsoring racing teams and events. Over the years, Union 76 evolved, and its stations became part of the Unocal Corporation. In 1997, Unocal merged with Chevron, and the Union 76 brand continued to be used for some Chevron gas stations, maintaining a presence in the American fuel industry. The orange ball and the "76" logo remain symbols of the brand's historical legacy.
